Lyle Waters Posted December 4, 2004 Report Posted December 4, 2004 I am about to put my Galaxy through our first service (20k but actual 17k). Ford tell me its Quote
Guest blatters Posted December 4, 2004 Report Posted December 4, 2004 No, to be fair to the dealer, at 20k I don't think that you should take a hit for much more than the standard service. That's unless you have really driven the car hard. If there is something significant then it's probably covered under the warranty. My Tdi has 24k on the clock from new in 2003. The 20k service was the second (diesal is every 10k) and it just cost Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted December 5, 2004 Report Posted December 5, 2004 It's OK to be raped, so long as the letters stand forRepairAsPerEstimate :) Quote
Lyle Waters Posted December 6, 2004 Author Report Posted December 6, 2004 You are right about the front tyres but they were nearly shot when I got the car... Dont get me wrong, I love the Galaxy just never had to service one privatly before.. I have got a knocking sound from the front left engine compartment tho, think its the engine shield tapping on the front frame. Only happens when I drive over small potholes/bumps in the road especially with a passenger on board. Quote
Lyle Waters Posted December 6, 2004 Author Report Posted December 6, 2004 Aux heater all changed at 20k (but you don't need to worry about that 'cos you've got a nice smooth but thirsty 2.3 petrol and they don't have aux heaters!). Umm, is this the heater for the rear with the little exhust pie sticking out under the passenger door? If it is then I have one... If not, what is it? Quote
Guest blatters Posted December 6, 2004 Report Posted December 6, 2004 I really don't think you've got an aux heater on a 2.3 petrol but perhaps someone else on the site will help - some of the boys who are the 'core group' on this site should post something soon when they read this - GSM, Fredt, MM, Ivory - when you're ready boys! Concerning the knocking noise, get those dop-links checked as that's what it sounds like. Known problem and well reported on this site. Simple job for the dealer under warranty - see the other threads called knocking noises or something also on this site. All the best. Blatters :) Quote
GSMGuy Posted December 6, 2004 Report Posted December 6, 2004 Depending on the year of your car you may or may not have either an Auxilary heater or a Booster heater... Both usea (afaik) the same heater system, one helps heat the water to speed warm up, and the other is actually programmable to come on when the car is empty - as well as helping warm up too.. HTH Mike Quote
Lyle Waters Posted December 6, 2004 Author Report Posted December 6, 2004 It a zetec on a 03 plate.. Booster I presume then.. Quote
GSMGuy Posted December 6, 2004 Report Posted December 6, 2004 On a Zetec - most likely Booster as it is STD, the programmable one is extra, and has a digi clock in the headlining. Mike Quote
Lyle Waters Posted December 6, 2004 Author Report Posted December 6, 2004 Oh, and found the correct thread for the knocking noise. sorry if i double posted. There is a tiny bit of play in the drop link passenger side, booked in next week for service et all... Fantastic site any hows... Quote
Lyle Waters Posted December 16, 2004 Author Report Posted December 16, 2004 Well, service went fine, drop link replaced under warrantee, all in all Quote
Guest blatters Posted December 16, 2004 Report Posted December 16, 2004 There you go, nothing to worry about - just don't get your driver's door mirror clipped like I did the other day as it will cost you Quote
