1) where the cheapest place to get a remote fob for my 98 galaxy?

2) what is the programming procedure?

3) what is the best avenue to report this garage to ford (hopefully to get there arses kicked!).

As ever many thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

All the best

1) Keep an eye on eBay they come up on there sometimes, the remote part just plugs onto a normal key. I don't know if the keys are all the same, but the VW and SEAT ones are, so shop around as parts can be cheaper for the same thing at the dealers of the different makes.

Stupid question maybe, but i suppose you have changed the batteries on the key ?

I too had problems with remote locking and I changed the battery but that didn't solve the problem.

Only last week i learned there are two batteries in the key, under the small metal plate there is a second battery. How to change batteries in the key is not explained in my manual.

Replaced both batteries and problems solved.

Do you have the red led on the fob flashing when you push the buttons ? If not, it means that the batteries are dead or there may be a bad contact inside between the buttons and the contacts. Spraying a little WD40 could help here.

As for reprogramming : use the search on this forum, it's been well described.

I also had this problem with my key, new batteries the light would light up.

What i did in the end was open it up and check thesolder joints, lo and behold one of the surface mount resistors had come loose, so all i done was re-solder it and have had no problems since.
