I wonder whether anyone has heard a noise similar to the one my new Galaxy 1.9tdi is making. I purchased the car, 2000 model, done about 50K, and notice that when I switch off the engine there is a noise like a jet engine winding down which seems to be coming from underneath the middle of the car. The annoying thing is that it doesn't do it all the time and dceided not to when I took the car back to the dealer for them to check out (a Toyota dealer and so I don't have a lot of confidence in their diagnostic abilities.)

They could find nothing wrong and certainly the unit on the instrument panel doesn't flash like the manual says it should when there are problems.

I would perhaps expect some sort of cooling fan to carry on but this seems too loud to be normal. Any Ideas?

Ah! the usual TDI newbie question :P do a search under AUX heater or booster heater, your not the first to ask and you wont be the last by a long shot :(

Go on, Fredt, say it.....Another whining TDI owner!

My aux heater's unpredicatable at the moment with the variation in temperatures that we are experiencing. Front screen heater has been used a few times these past few days too.

Got a strange "meeeow" from the car last week when I parked up - the cat had jumped onto the roof and walked the entire length of the opened tailgate! Interesting trail of muddy paws when the tailgate is closed now......

it's my first winter with the aux heater. What a great noise, and what's more the car heats up quickly as well - fantastic.
