Guest gary_killington Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 Not knowing a lot about cars, I was a bit stuck when one of my rear electric windows decided to pack up. Anyway, I decided to get out the Haynes manual and try to diagnose the problem. After trying several basic things like the global locking mechanism (with the key), all other windows shut except for the problematic one. All other windows worked perfectly with their respective switches as well. It seems that the motor has packed up. Anyway, I stripped the door down and removed the regulator and motor. Then I made the fatal mistake. I separated the regulator from the motor without securing the base plate, and watched helplessly as the cable unwinded itself from the base plate. So I now have a disconneted motor and a regulator in a bad state of repair. Anyway, I lost my bottle and put the thing back together as best I could. My question is this: Do I now need to buy a regulator and a motor or is there a technique for correctly putting the thing back together again if I go and buy a new motor? Or do I just throw it into the nearest garage and get them to do it. Honestly though, if I had secured the base plate, I think I would've been able to easily fit a new motor. Any idea where I can get cheap parts? Regards, Gary Quote
Guest dmc Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 it may not be the motor.its quite commen for the wiring to break behind the rubber boot between the b pillar and door. try wobbling the wiring whilst holding the switch for the window,it might work. Quote
