Hi,

On my '99 1.9TD LX, the driver's window goes down, but when trying to close, it will start to close, stop, and then open by itself.

It eventually closes after repeated tries - each time it closes a bit then opens again. It can take five minutes for success.

Any advice is most welcome.

Thanks.

Hi Brian

I had the same fault on my o/s/r door. We found that ford's had been tight on there wiring loom and as the door was opened and closed over and over again it broke the wires inside the loom.If you pull the rubber tube down you will proberly see the outer case of the wires cracked through.

If you need things go to vw centres first and tell them it's for a sharan.

I bought a rear window mechanism complete as a piece of plastic broke on my one.

Strange that my Ford dealers can under cut the local VW dealers on parts and have them there the next day!

also the fact that all the parts that I get for my Galaxy from Ford have VW part numbers and logo's on them

it could be a case that the winder mech is dry or worn! or the runners gummed up causing the motor to struggle and trip out as it thinks there is an obsticle in way and the anti trapping feature is kicking in!

as a temporary measure try pumping the button till the window is fully raise and shut and then leave it! one hit of the switch to much and it will open again

Then go to your ford dealer on monday and ask them for a rear window mechanism and see what price he can do it to you for with a receipt.

Last thing I asked for from a VW dealers was the rear box for a 2.8 vr6 Sharan,
