Hi guys,

Long time no chat.. hope your all well and the cars are running OK.

Anyway read the lovely topic on pollen filter changing many weeks back but after the cold weather started ny front screen got real bad condensation, would the pollen filter cause this ?, my mothers Astra suffers bad if her's is knackered.

Anyway here's some pictures of my 2.3 Auto 1999 baby and for the life of me I cannot see the offending filter.

Plz can anyone else spot them ?.

Cheers Simon

Stand in front of the car, in front of the battery, duck down and peer through the gap under the windscreen where the wiper mech sits, and there it is

to get at it is another story! you need to remove the top section of shroud around the coolant bottle and battery, then undo the three bolts holding the scuttle tray in place, thats the plastic shelf above the engine and under the windscreen where the wiper mech sits

with this removed you can either set the wiper blades so they sit upright on the screen, which moves the wiper mech arms up out of the way or unbolt the wiper mech and lift it out of the way

once you get to the pollen filter you need to unclip its cover and slide it towards the drives side, it will then pop off its mounting, drag it out, change it and then refit it, easy if you know how

also do a search under seat kid he did a photo how to on the topic or buy the replacment filter from GF&S as the ones they sell come with a very good instruction sheet on how to change it :)

Do you think this alone would cause the condensation problems ?.

Thansk for reply I did look @ the photo section but guess I missed the filter .

Will have another look now I know where.

Thanks a lot

Simon

Also the filter holder has been modified to include a cover over the kerb-side end as water splashes up onto it in the wet.

Check and see if yours has been done, if not it is a good idea to have it sorted out.
