After having problems to start the Galaxy (which is a 1997 R Reg, 2litre 8V Petrol), it was determined that the problem was that the ECU was shorted out via a electrical fault.

We order a new ECU which we have been told would work on the current engine and immobilizer however we have be unbale for the Car electrician to code the keys, and as a result turn off th immobilizer.

Does anyone have any suggestions to over come this fault? If so you have a lof more helpfull thatn any car elecy we've found around our area

Thanks for you time guys

If the PATS sytems ECU is removed and replaced it must be reintroduced to the main ECU (power train ECU) by means of connection to the diagnostic machine, and being reprogrammed into the system, so I would imagine the same must apply if you replace the main ECU as it wont recognise the existing PATS ECU,

it looks like a trip to the dealers is on the cards!

also what was the original fault that lead to the replacement of the main ECU?
