Guest Porker Posted May 17, 2003 Report Posted May 17, 2003 I dropped an inlet valve on my 1.9TD Alhambra yesterday crawling along on the M25. (63k miles) I aquired the vehicle about three months ago and took out a warranty straight away. (from a main dealer but not where I purchased the vehicle). I think I am covered as it is supposed to cover all mechanical parts. I have noticed that there is a clause though (isn't there always!) that states "Excluding: Cracks and failure to valves and cylinder heads as a result of carbon build up." My question is, "Who determines whether this was the cause of failure ?" There is bound to be evidence of carbon to some extent and my cynical side thinks this could be used as a catch all. To be fair I haven't done anything yet as this was a friday evening failure but I am interested in what the contributors think is reasonable for me to expect. Also should I only expect them to replace the valve or inspect the other components that may have been damaged ? Thanks in Advance. Quote
Guest SA Intruder Posted May 17, 2003 Report Posted May 17, 2003 I wouldn't worry about it. As long as there is a full dealer service history, they'll sort it. If there is any suspicion of other contributory factors, or possibly consequential damage, it is in their best interest to prevent another claim. You are fairly well protected legally these days. Be honest and firm but fair... Quote
