Heating Problems.

Just got a R-reg Ka this week, noticed the overheating warning light came on but the radiator fan wont come on. checked it by connecting directly to the battery and it runs OK.

Oil and coolant is clean.

Any one know how to check the coolant sensor which control the fan?

The interior heating is always cold even turn the control to the maximum heating setting. air is blowing through OK.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks Fred for the tip/link, the valve was ceased (probably caused by the overheating coolant or lack of it).

I removed the valve and connected two 15mm copper pipe to bypass it (atleast for the meantime to keep warm) until I can find the fault for the radiator fan contoller.

Could anyone recomend an electrical diagonostic device for this fault?

I also found a new fault, when braking on a high speed, the whole car and steering wheel start to shake violently. I checked the brake pad and disc and it was fine.

Just wondering if other Ford models should have the same symptoms would also applies to this model.

I am dreading to drive it in case more faults present itselt!!!!!!!!

it could be several things! track rod end gone! does the steering clunk when turned from lock to lock? if it does can you feel or hear which side it is?

wheel bearing collapsing! can you rock the wheel? grab it at 10 and 2 oclock and see if you can rock the wheel in or out of the arch or from side to side as it would if you turned the steering wheel, any knocking or excessive movement should be investigated further!

although it sounds more like a warped disc! which isnt to bad! but still needs sorting
