Guest Mikey Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 Hi, I looked at the site and am interested in the dvd /tft package as well. Was thinking of buying the 7" screen and attaching it to the ceiling with velcro. (Extra strong ) which package did you go for ? ie was it one of the special offers they advertise ? Any info greatly received. Cheers Mike Quote
Guest steve Posted May 18, 2003 Report Posted May 18, 2003 Did you find Merconnet to be reliable? I hope so as I ordered the in-dash dvd/cd/radio and the 7"TFT LCD screen with TV tuner last week. Hopefully it will slide into my Alhambra without any problems. Quote
Guest steve Posted June 5, 2003 Report Posted June 5, 2003 Still waiting for my stuff from www.merconnet.com Has anyone used them before? Have they been reliable? Quote
Guest kd035050 Posted June 5, 2003 Report Posted June 5, 2003 I placed an order with merconnet last month and I am still waiting. They claim to have had some trouble with chinese cutoms due to sars, as there stock come directly from china. I think I ordered the same screen as yourself the 7" tft with tv tuner? they mailed me today to advise that the stock will arrive on monday and that I will get it on tuesday. Fingers crossed Chris ;) Quote

Guest steve Posted June 11, 2003 Report Posted June 11, 2003 Hello kd035050 Merconnet have also told me the stock would be arriving Tuesday. Also got the same story about China. Checked on the website today (Track Your Order) and it says it has been sent, so should arrive today or tomorrow I guess. I'll keep you all posted. Quote
Guest kd035050 Posted June 11, 2003 Report Posted June 11, 2003 Hi Steve I received an email from them this morning asking me if wanted a refund then when I accepted they quickley replied to say the stock had just arrived and that if I still wanted my order I could receive it by tomorrow. I have decided to give them the benifit however if they don't get it to me by tomorrow I will be demanding a refund. I placed my first order with them on April 23rd and have been waiting since and I must add that they charged my account on the 24th of April, so they have had my money the whole time. I am so p****d at them over this. Hope you get your order. kd035050 (Chris) :) Quote
Guest steve Posted June 11, 2003 Report Posted June 11, 2003 Rang them today and thay said they were waiting for the orders to be collected by DHL this afternoon and that the goods would arrive before noon tomorrow. I have the DHL tracking number, so as soon as the order is collected by DHL it will show up on their system. Here's hoping. Out of interest what did you order? I ordered the DVD200 head unit, 7" tv tuner screen and headrest bracket. Steve. Quote
Guest kd035050 Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 HI Steve I did not order the dvd as I already have a portable one however I did order the 7" GMX TFT/LCD with tv tunner and head rest bracket. Not sure but sound to me like they had problems with that model of screen. Chris Quote
Guest kd035050 Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 Steve I would very interested to know how good you find the new head unit and if it can take a cd changer? Chris Quote
Guest steve Posted June 17, 2003 Report Posted June 17, 2003 Finally arrived last week! Still trying to get the damn thing fitted! (getting done tomorrow) And, yes, it CAN take a cd changer. Will report back when it's in and I've had a play. Steve (BTW the bracket was busted so I've gotta send it back for a replacement - bugger!) Quote
Guest steve Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 At long last the saga is over and the head unit has arrived and has now been fitted! I am very pleased with the quality. With the old Scala rad/cass (Blaupunkt) fitted, I did think that I would need to upgrade the speakers once the new head unit had been fitted. However, that is not the case and I am chuffed with the sound quality. DVD playback is excellent (all sound through the car speakers and not the screen speakers). The unit has all the features you would expect to find on a full size dvd player, and all are accessible via the i/r remote control. I stuck in an mp3 disc this morning and was shocked at the drop in sound quality of the first tracks. But then some later tracks were fine. When I checked the disc in the pc I noticed the poorer quality tracks were recorded at 96 kbps whereas the perfectly good ones were at 128 Kbps, so I'll know to keep an eye out for that on the next mp3 disc I record. I'm just waiting for a replacement headrest bracket for the screen and then installation will be complete. I would recommend the unit to anyone as I don't believe it can be beaten on value for money ( Quote
Guest kd035050 Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 Steve, Do you know what kind of CD Changer it works with? Quote
Guest steve Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 Sanyo, according to the manual. If you wanted a different type, then I'm sure you could get an adapter. Quote
