Hi, I have just got hold of this new C-Max but i have noticed that when I start the engine the xenon lights do a quick flash. I have shown the dealer who had not experienced this before and they have investigated by telephoning the factory who say that it is not a problem, apparantley something to do with battery power but i'm not so sure.

Does anybody else have xenons on their CMax and have they noticed this happening?

Hi,

I have xenons on my Galaxy, they don't flash at all. I suspect that the C-Max may use a multiplexed system for lighting control (many devices controlled by a single cable) and the car starting causes the modules to respond to voltage drop.

As an ex Galaxy owner I now have a BMW with Xenons and they flash on start up sometimes, the dealer said it was due to if you turn the lights off before or after the ignition is off, if you juts turn the ignition off then the lights they store gas and energy. Sometimes mine do it sometimes they dont. They also scroll up and down sometimes on start up which is the self levelling mechanism.

I wouldnt worry

Shouldn't you now be be in an BMW forum or something instead of roughing it with all us oil burning oiks etc. They will strike you off if you're seen mixing with us poor relations. :P :P :D :D :D :D

:P My [standard] headlights occasionally flash as the key is turned to start the motor,I thought it might be something to do with the bulb check system at first, but then felt as it is only a rare occurence.it may not be something as routine as that.:P

:D So I dismissed it as a mysterious UFO type thing :D :D :D

Wow, so i'm not the only one this has happened to!

I was at the fraud dealer today picking up some scuff plates, while i was there i managed to get hold of the mechanic again, he did say that it was to do with low battery power while starting, basically what Johnb was on about, voltage drop causes the lights to flash. The dealer had rung the factory at Cologne in Germany where it is built and they had stated that it is not a fault and is quite normal.

So no worries then.

Cheers

Ian
