Guest T120 Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 Has anyone changed a cambelt on a 1.9Tdi and is it difficult?Haynes says you need two special tools one two lock the camshaft and one to lock the fuel pump. Do you know where can I get them please? Quote
Guest Boggler Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 I got the tools from a local motor factors, they're quite easily obtained with the VW Engine being so prolific. If I remember correctly they cost about Quote
Masked Marauder Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 I have this kit and it says in the list that it is suitable for Volkswagon 1.9 diesels, although I can not verify it. I have only used it on a 1.5 litre diesel. Quote
Guest T120 Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 Boggler & Marauder Thanks for the info will check out local factors tommorow with a view to getting a set of tools. :P Which brings me to the question you have the tools so did you change the belt and how difficult was it. :P ? Oh by the way thanks for the offer of the loan but East Berks is a fair drag from Cheshire. Quote
Guest Boggler Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 I didn't change it myself, but I know a man who can :P I did observe, it took a few hours but was mainly a stripdown/ rebuild job, nothing too complicated. The only thing is the gap between the end of the crankshaft and the inner wing doesn't allow to much movement on a spanner, especially if you've got Air Con. Quote
