Guest MyPerfectVehicle Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 my interior lights inside the tailgate have stopped working,it's not the bulbs as ive tested them with a battery.where is the switch that trips these lights to come on?.am I blind I can't find it! Quote
Andrew T Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 If there is nothing obvious externally, It may have a Mecury filled switch inside the tailgate trim. Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 It won't be mercury for health and safety reasons! If you mean the lights inside the load area, either the switch is built into the tailgate lock, or else they are wired in series with the door switches, as they all seem to come on together. Anyone got a wiring diagram handy? Quote
Guest MyPerfectVehicle Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 well they dont come on when the other doors are open either, and ive just noticed it's stopped lighting up on the dash when the boot is open,so you think there may be a wire inside the tailgate connected to the lock? Quote
Guest fredt Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 The controlling switch is connected to the lock in the hatch, its a small micro switch that clips onto the locking mech/motor, but as you suggest the most common cause of electrical items in the doors and hatch are the failure of the wires in the loom so check them out first and then start stripping down the hatch Quote
Guest seatalhambra Posted November 4, 2004 Report Posted November 4, 2004 My tailgate gave electrical problems. Squeze the rubber boot ends on the drivers side ooof the tailgae hinge where the electrics are. This should release the rubber cover so you can pull it back and look for broken and cracked wires. I has one broke ( cent locking) and about 5 cracked!!!! Quote
Guest fredt Posted November 6, 2004 Report Posted November 6, 2004 this I believe is the switch that controls the rear load area lights http://i5.ebayimg.com/02/i/02/ae/3f/46_1_b.JPG and this ons up for grabs on Ebay if you need one? Quote
