Well it had to happen :o I've gone and bought a base box for the Galaxy :D it's an all in one unit that's made for Skoda's and VW's, it's made to attach to the standard gamma head unit but it can be modded to fit other units :D all I have to do is wait for it to turn up and get fitting :D and annoy the nieghbours as I set it up :o

Where are you going to fit the box? How large is it (difficult to tell from the photo)?

Well its here and it just needs installing now, I tried to see if it would fit in the storage compartment where the jack is kept but thats a no go due to the LPG filling point being located on the rear quarter panel and the filler pipes in the way! never mind though it fits in the storage big under the drivers seat nicely with plenty of room all round to construct a decent mounting plate for it out of some MDF I have stashed in the garage, it seems a straight forward plug and play fit at the base box end but its going to be a cut n shut job at the head unit end as the looms made to plug straight into a standard VW gamma unit, the kit is designed to fit a Skoda Fabia! and included on the prewired loom is a plug in connection for the fuse board, with the correct size fuse and all the fixing to mount it securely in any of the positions they recomend, of which I shall totally ignore and fix/mount how I see fit

will let you know how it goes after all its only 12v what could go wrong?

It went in and its out again! I only jury rigged it up to see how it sounded and to try out the fitting positions I had in mind, its not a gut wrenching base box but more of a solid back up of the existing sound system! I did how ever notice an increase in the base level but it wasnt of a neighbourhood upsetting level!

I think the position of under the drivers seat didnt help as it muffled the sound but I dont want to mount it in a position say on the boot floor where it may get knocked or get in the way!

oh well never mind  theres a perfect position for it under the drivers seat in my T5 or on the rear seat back of my Golf GTI

Couldn't you fit it under one of the 2nd row seats?? Stick it to the carpet

using heavy duty velcro so you can unplug and whip it out if needed...???

Unfortuanately its to big to fit under one of the rear seats  its looking more like its going to be fitted in my T5 or my GTI  the T5 could do with a bit more bass as the standard speakers are a little tinny and distort to much if you up the base and the volume, mind you the GTI's front speakers are blown so I only run the rear shelf ones and the head units getting on a bit and could do with upgrading of whgere to start and what to buy?

nice bit of kit, think you'll lose a lot of it due to the size of the car, 100w isn't exactly a lot of amplification.

had similar problems in my old 5 series beemer, only that was due to to much sound proofing, now if you had the 10" boxed sub and 400w amp like the ones in my 1970 beetle (that used to be in the 5 series) that would make a differance, rattles yer fillings...but no where to hide it....

No where to hide it? what about the large cavity behind the rear seat under the parcel shelf? in my old 1303 LS we built a custom fit box for the space! talk about rattle your teeth more like enema for anyone sitting in the back
