Denis Posted October 31, 2004 Report Posted October 31, 2004 Apol's if this has been covered before though I can't find any threads to do with this particular problem. I have bought a spare remote key for my car and successfully programmed it to start the car, this was achieved by turning to position III within five seconds etc. So now both remote keys will unlock the doors manually and start the car. The new key wouldn't lock/ unlock the car via remote though, and reading the manual I thought it might need to be synchronised. I did this and hey presto, it worked! But then the original key wouldn't lock/ unlock via remote. I synchronised the original key- which then worked again- but then the new one stopped locking/ unlocking via remote. So I can't get both of them locking/ unlocking via remote at any given time. :o Please help! Quote
Denis Posted October 31, 2004 Author Report Posted October 31, 2004 Sorry guys- it was my fault. The trick was to synchronise both keys within twenty seconds, I was being too slow. Now they both work! Quote
Guest Turbo Posted October 31, 2004 Report Posted October 31, 2004 Now about these keys.I have just bought a blank Ford key and had it cut to fit my car. I was always led to believe that the car has to go into my Ford dealers to go on the computer to be programmed into the ECU on my car. Is this correct? I don`t want to end up with a Galaxy in my garage that won`t start on any key. Quote
Guest fredt Posted October 31, 2004 Report Posted October 31, 2004 if you mean to program the key into the PAT's system? if the key you have has an imobilliser chip in it then it can be programed into the system without a trip to the dealers depending on your model there are a couple ways of doing it, MK1's have a red master key that can be used for programming new keys, another method is if you have two keys that are programed into the system already they can be used in the same way as the red key to program another key into the system, if these methods fail then yes it's a trip to the dealers :o do a search on the topic both methods are described Quote
Guest nickymac Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 Can anyone tell me how much it will cost me to get a new remote key for a 2001 Galaxy (lost my original and only have 1 spare left! ). I know there is a method in which you can programme the key yourself but don't want to pay ford prices. They quoted me Quote
