RichieRich Posted May 28, 2003 Report Posted May 28, 2003 I read in the Daily express the other day that the government were banning tinted windows due to a number of accidents were the driver couldn't see clearly. There was a story of a Voyager owner who had to remove the factory fitted film (an option) before he could drive it again. The new regulations are that the front windscreen must let in at least 75% of light and the side windows 70%. I don't know of this affects Galaxys? Richie Rich Quote
Guest SA Intruder Posted May 28, 2003 Report Posted May 28, 2003 The reason the front side windows and windscreen are not 35% tinted as the rears is to comply with European legislation. For once, it is legislation that makes sense. I ride motorcycles competitively. I do not wear tinted visors. They are lethal. But, if you want to look like the pin-dicks in their Saxos.... Quote
Guest p1948040 Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 perhaps the reason that front tinted windows are not allowed is because it prevents clear identification of who is driving the vehicle ? IMO to suggest that tinted windows (tinted to the same degree as the side/rear ones as std on the Galaxy) obscurs drivers vision is rubbish. I have never had a problem looking out through the rear tinted windows in our Galaxy, they simply are not dark enough to cause a problem, even at night. Also my new Mini has extremly tinted rear windows, ditto, absolutley no problem at night time either. Whilst they all look dark from outside the car, one could hardly describe them as being 'dark' when seeing from the inside out. Quote
asimons Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 In good daylight or at night when everyone has their lights on, the darker windows may not make any difference. But on a damp winter's afternoon, just getting dark, some fool driving without lights - you need all the light transmission you can get. It's little consolation that they were at fault when they smash into the side of your vehicle. Quote
Guest SA Intruder Posted June 1, 2003 Report Posted June 1, 2003 Get real - anything that reduces vision/visibilty is a BAD THING Forward and side vision are both necessarily important. I don't give a monkey's what's at the rear - I ain't going there. Quote
Eddie Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 Has any one tried a spray type tint available in the shops? Could you suggest a good one? Looks a little too good to be true. My Galaxy has no tint on any windows and I would like to 3 or maybe 5 of the rear windows. Quote

Guest Hotscot Posted June 20, 2003 Report Posted June 20, 2003 How durable is the window film, a little worried that it may come away from the windows after a while or it gets scraped by little hands. Quote
Guest SA Intruder Posted June 20, 2003 Report Posted June 20, 2003 Not durable Bubbles and scratches real easy. You could look like a baseball cap wearing pubescent, with some care. Quote
