I have the factory fitted 2007RDS head unit with a 6 CD multichanger. I constantly get an error message of CHECK DISCS whenever I try to play a CD.

This has been happening for such a long time, and I now want to do something about it.

I took it to a Ford Garage - no help at all.

I took it to local Car Radio shop - only tried to sell me a whole package.

I do not want to change the head unit unless I really have to. Is it too simple to assume I can just plug in a new compatible multichanger?

I know nothing about In Car Entertainment and have no 'man about the house' to do these things for me. I would be grateful for any advice.

No, but you could try cleaning the head on your unit first or unplugging it and seeing if it resets itself and cures the fault? if not most good car audio shops will stock a compatable cd changer, although you may have to replace the bus cable and fit an adaptor to the head unit to convert the 2007's plugs to the new lead
