Guest pocketsg Posted October 21, 2004 Report Posted October 21, 2004 My 97 2.0l Petrol has suddenly developed a serious misfire when accelerating at low revs. Never cuts out altogether & idles fine. Ok above about 2500rpm. Done 120k and recently had a new petrol pump. Found when any of three HT leads disconnected runs slightly worse but when 4th disconnected she runs much worse?Tried disconnecting MAF as it's easy & made no difference. Any ideas?? Quote
RussT Posted October 21, 2004 Report Posted October 21, 2004 I had a simalar prob with my Gal (same year and model as yours). It turned out to be some thing called the HEGO System ! (don't as me what that is as i am not an engiine buff) But my local Ford Dealer, which belive it or not are very good (Stanway of Lytham) checked every thing out and came up with this. They kept the car a few days to run tests on it as the Test machine kept coming up with differnt faults. So they tried varios parts till they found the right one, and here we go "Good Dealer or what, they only charged me for the actual parts fitted" i think i paid about Quote
Guest pocketsg Posted October 22, 2004 Report Posted October 22, 2004 Tried disconnecting the hego (Lambda/Oxygen level) sensor. Problem still there, could be slightly better, certainly no worse. Does this indicate the sensor isn't working or doesn't it have such an obvious effect anyway? Quote
