Guest Hoults Posted October 20, 2004 Report Posted October 20, 2004 Hi folks, Just found the website, excellent, but I can't find an answer to my particular problem.I have a 2.3 Galaxy which has developed a few faults. The most annoying of which is that the revs rise in between gear changes, particulary 1st, 2nd and 3rd making the car quite awkward to drive.A typical sequence is: pull off in first, go to change to 2nd at about 2000 rpm, dip the clutch and the revs rise to about 3000 rpm for a few seconds before dropping to around 1000rpm. It resembles a fault with a sticking throttle cable, but I've checked this and it is OK.Spoke to the Ford main dealer, answer was- 'a fan in the exhaust system is the most likely fault'. A what? Nothing mentioned in Haynes. Several hundred pounds to replace if it is that. Also, the cruise control does not work, any link.........?And finally, the car feel very sluggish for a 2300cc. I frequently get passed by TDi's like I'm stood still, could this (hopefully) be part of the same problem?Any help very gratefully received, Thanks. Simon. Quote
djacks42 Posted October 21, 2004 Report Posted October 21, 2004 Search site/TIS for ICA valve - gets coked up and requires cleaning. Easy peasy job. Quote
chromedome Posted October 21, 2004 Report Posted October 21, 2004 If I'm right there's a vacuum hose attached to the cruise control pump. If this hose is split it could leak air and cause the revs to rise and the cruise control not to work. Worth a look. Quote
Guest Hoults Posted October 22, 2004 Report Posted October 22, 2004 Thanks for the help guys, but still no joy. I cleaned out the ICA valve and this seemed OK (it moves and is now covered in WD40) - no significant improvement.Vac hoses all OK.Any more ideas? I even tried disconnecting the MAF sensor as it seems a general cure-all from the other threads on the site - still no improvement. Help! Quote
