Guest BDM2510 Posted October 17, 2004 Report Posted October 17, 2004 After completing the lengthy task of installing a Ford Galaxy multimedia centre into a VW Sharan, I require some advise from the members. With the visteon dvd unit installed I have AUX outputs RCA/Video on the rear of the DVD. In order to connect to the head unit the RCA have been converted into an FM signal, so no need to install a Ford head unit. I need help in the following - connecting the video lead to a third in dash monitor. I have carefully positioned a standard video lead (yellow) from the DVD AUX output and into the central dash area. On powering up the monitor I receive a blue screen from the 2 video inputs when disconnected. On connection of the video lead to the input lead. the image appears with the screen spinning. Could this be an NTSC monitor?Or is it a fault in the unit? I have tried my digital camera, a playsation, anything with a yellow video lead and still the same result - a spinning screen of the image (s).Does anyone know of an in car convertor or could it be a fault in the system. The monitor is a Korean TFT LCD colour monitor Model DT-S650 which I bought off e-bay. Although unused and in great order, have I bought a US model. I would appreciate any feedback on this one and I`ll try an answer any necessary questions. I still have to write my report on the Ford into a VW for members but business commitments have delayed this but not for long. Quote
seatkid Posted October 17, 2004 Report Posted October 17, 2004 hehe looks as if you've been EBAYED Check your DVD units instruction booklet - most players have an option for PAL/NTSC 50/60Hz or Progressive Scan Quote
Guest BDM2510 Posted October 17, 2004 Report Posted October 17, 2004 Just a quick note to ask if the monitor could be a fault or is it likely that the screen is NTSC. Although the item was boxed as new the only instructions is the wiring diagram. I`ve looked all over the monitor but no swtich to turnover. Does the spinning screen with image imply NTSC and if so can it be rectified easily? Quote
Dally Posted October 17, 2004 Report Posted October 17, 2004 bdm2510 Seems like the classic ntsc signiture! Not all monitors have a physical switch to change from ntsc to pal - some are auto switching or have a setting in a menu. It may be useful to see if there is an on screen menu available with this option. If it hasn't, then your stuck. You may want to sell it on because there are many dvd players out there that can push ntsc or pal signals and you might just find a customer. Awaiting your install feature! Quote
Guest BDM2510 Posted October 17, 2004 Report Posted October 17, 2004 Thanks Dally- Always there for quick positive support. Feature will follow very shortly. Incidently, I found a company in Bradford who install the headsets into the headrests with minute drilling down the posts to discretely hide the cables. Many thanks again. Quote
seatkid Posted October 17, 2004 Report Posted October 17, 2004 The visteon player most likely has a switchable PAL/NTSC output - usually via the remote. Quote
Dally Posted October 18, 2004 Report Posted October 18, 2004 The visteon player most likely has a switchable PAL/NTSC output - usually via the remote. Had a look through the manual at all menu options - no switchable option for pal / ntsc. Perhaps this is why so many people have tried to multi region them and not succeeded. Quote
Guest BDM2510 Posted October 22, 2004 Report Posted October 22, 2004 Thank you all. Finally, got to the bottom of this one and the S650 model works with NTSC only. As you said Dally, there are many DVD units out there which it will work on and looks like e-bay here it comes. Subsequently bought a Kenwood KVC-1000 so no doubt I`ll need all your help on this one as it has no wiring leads or mask remote key. I don`t half make my life difficult. Quote
