Guest sully_wales Posted October 15, 2004 Report Posted October 15, 2004 The Galaxy which is a R Reg 2litre petrol 8valve stopped suddenly and the electircs cutt out. While towing the Galaxy we were able to start the vechicle again. However later the galaxy would not start. We tried the fuel cut off switch which was not reset. The only noticable electrical problem was wiring came loose from the air flow metre. Does any have any suggestions on how I could gte a spark. Any help would be gratfully accepted. Quote
Guest dylb123 Posted October 20, 2004 Report Posted October 20, 2004 Have you tried checking the main supply relay (check your onwers manual for which one that is). On my Galaxy it has a large 32 on it. It is located in the fuse box under the drivers dash. If that is faulty then there will be no spark to your plugs (among other things). When mine went the engine just died immediately and wouldn't start (but would turn over). The AA man said he had some recollection of such things on Galaxys so he took the relay out, banged it on the floor a few times(!), refitted it and hey presto it started fine. However, it only lasted another half and hour and had to be banged again. The AA man eventually got me a replacement from a Sharan from a local scrap yard that was luckily still open. If it's not that then I think there are other posts about similar problems (including similar relay problems). Quote
Guest Andy Posted October 20, 2004 Report Posted October 20, 2004 my 1995 2.0ltr did the same thing but it was relay 30 ,according to my pal at ford he tells me this is a common thing .a dry joint is the problem i resoldered mine and kept it for an emergency spare it was about Quote
Guest dylb123 Posted March 7, 2005 Report Posted March 7, 2005 I've belatedly rechecked the relay number that I had a problem with and it was actually 30 as sully_wales said, not 32. Sorry about that. Quote
jasper Posted March 7, 2005 Report Posted March 7, 2005 I had a similiar problem with a 2.3 1990 galaxy, the stealership replaced evrything from ignition switch to the EMC , ended up it was the power relay Quote
