My gal has just developed the most annoying buzzing noise from inside the dash on the passenger side. It's loud and constant, so bad I hate driving it without the radio up loud. :D

The only time it's not there is on perfectly flat tarmac cruising at about 58mph, how often can you do that though?

The question is can anyone tell me if there is any way of getting into the area to try and stop it. Can you for instance get access from the two flip up storage boxes on top of the dash.

Cheers,

Galman.

The 2 dash-top storage bins come out easily so long as you have a set of Torx drivers (just undo the screws in the base of the bins, IIRC 4 or 5 in each), and you may be able to twist your head (or look through the wiundscreen) to see into the voids as what may have become loose - could also try removing the glove box assembly and having a look there as well.

When dealers fixed my radio remote, it came back with a loud buzz from passanger side. Upon close inspection none of the dash screws had been tightened on that side - just finger tight :D the one buzzing was the one under the under dash glovebox at the left.

Solved the buzzing noise.

I know it's sometimes difficult to locate noises in the dash, but my annoying buzzing noise has been tracked down to the rear view mirror.

I was being dazzled by an inconsiderate driver and dipped the rear view mirror and behold the noise stopped, put it back and the noise started, I now have a temporary small piece of paper wedged in the clip and no more buzzing. ;) :D

I just need a long term solution, any suggestions??

GalMan: Thanks for this. I've had an intermittant 'buzzing' noise in the car. Not often but really irritating when it emerges from the hive. None of my tribe could work it out as, depending upon where one sat in the car' it seemed to be coming from a different place.

So when I saw your post I thought I'd check that pesky mirror next time the 'bee flew'. Today was the day. Galashiels one-way system and, guess what, the mirror was the hiding place of the bee.

Cheers mate. The thought of stripping down the dash was too much so I'd resigned myself to high volume Manic Street Preachers whenever the bees took to flight. Not anymore.

Thought you'd like to know and, if that's two of us, I reckon there may be others out there. So don't pull the trigger on the expanding foam just yet guys, simply adjust your rear view mirror!

Glad to be of service Blatters, I must admit my speakers were getting bored of blasting AC/DC, Iron Maiden and the like out, and as you said there may be others infected by the bees.

Do your belt up one more notch or buy smaller trousers :P

Check that the jack/wheelbrace hasn't come loose inside the side panel.

My turn...

two rattles inside the dash - one to the left of the dash lids and one behind the speedo.

Have had the junk trays out and re-tightened, but to no avail.

Any clues?

NB mine rattles at speeds not permitted on the public highway.

Snap! I've got the one behind the speedo - cannot cure it by holding the dash and have programmed my brain to ignore it!

I was getting a rattle from the dash, tried to ignore it, till one day I was that P****d off with the dam thing, I got the tool kit out, and after hours of looking and about 10 test drives later, my conclusion was the passengers door, the inside door panel had not been put back on correctly, after I asked the 'Engineers' at Bristol street to fix a side pocket. So I got a BIG screw driver out the DIY Kit and pried the panel off, stuck the proper bits in, and then hit the card back on with me fist (I was tempted to use a hammer, with a block of wood, but then I wouldn

Sky+ is great but if your like me and record and keep whole series! you soon run out of storage space :) although I have found a web site that shows how to upgrade the HD size :D

I think i will wait for the DVD Recorders to get cheaper and to be standardised, that way i wont run out of HD space.

I mentioned this in my I.C.E. post but now think it may be better here. Our Galaxy has a buzz from the speaker right at the base of the windscreen on the passenger side. It's DEFINITELY the speaker as you can hear it when the volume's down to '0' but not at all when the stereo's off. However, the buzzing only occurs when the headlights are on!

Not sure how to get to 'it' to either tighten things up or to disconnect the speaker. This is the MK1 dashboard by the way, with a passenger bag where the top glovebox would be.

Thanks in advance for any advice,

Keith/carliterature

PS, mine sounds more of a wasp than a bee...

The tweeter pops out from dash, use a soft pad on the dash to protect it and use a small screw driver to prise it out

it could be that it's getting a supply/back feed to it when the lights are on as you have a bad earth on the dash/steering colunm? or it could be duff?

the bad earth on the column could show up when you press the horn button with the lights off, or when you pump the front washer jets and you loose the dash illumination briefly? then you have a bad earth some where?

I have looked into sky plus, it sounds good, but its at a extra cost of
