Goofygolfer Posted October 13, 2004 Report Posted October 13, 2004 hi i was thinking of colour coding my strips on my 2000 galaxy, but how are they attached? Quote
djacks42 Posted October 14, 2004 Report Posted October 14, 2004 Just like badges, BSM's are attached with a 3M self adhesive foam-backed strip. Parts are warmed in heat cabinets and the surface is prepped with a mild degreaser. Quote
Goofygolfer Posted October 14, 2004 Author Report Posted October 14, 2004 nice one thanks matey, was'nt sure if there was clips holding them on :D Quote

And if they're like mine, they'll fall off all the time :D Proper 3M strips, superglue, gripfil, no nails, araldite - tried 'em all Paul Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted October 14, 2004 Report Posted October 14, 2004 Have you degreased properly before applying glue? If so, where did the glue not stick - to the door or to the rubbing strip? Quote
galantlad Posted October 15, 2004 Report Posted October 15, 2004 One of mine came off ( Due to me cleaning some glue residue off with white spirits probably fron a delivery sticker ) I bought some trim tape from HALFORDS but found the trim came off again so had to re do it, next time I used Super glue to help the trim tape bond to the plastic trim and it has bonded solidly now Quote

Degreased and cleaned. Roughed up, T-cutted, tried em' all Funny thing was, the last time it fell off, Had a weeks holidy in the rain, everything was fine. Parked up in hot sunshine, the strip was lying by the side when I came back. Paul Quote
Masked Marauder Posted October 15, 2004 Report Posted October 15, 2004 One of mine came off ( Due to me cleaning some glue residue off with white spirits probably fron a delivery sticker ) I use white spirit to lubricate drill bits when drilling metal or tile. It is an excellent lubricant for that, and it cleans paint brushes really well. But you won't get anything to stick afterwards unless you clean it all off with meths. I can well belive it caused your strips to fall off! The product you want to stick them on with is SIKAFLEX Quote
Goofygolfer Posted October 16, 2004 Author Report Posted October 16, 2004 where can you get this silkaflex from? Quote
Jason Posted October 17, 2004 Report Posted October 17, 2004 I've used Stikaflex a few times and it's the mutts nuts when it comes to bonding things like this. As to where you get it from, well I got it from work so I'll find out on Monday for you. Quote
