My mum has a Y-reg Ford Galaxy Ghia. On the dash in between the rev's and speedo is a trip computer that shows your MPG, temperature outside, etc.

In the last few days, it has gone blank but all the other electrics still work

Have got it booked into Ford for Friday but would be nice to go in and know what the problem is

Hope someone can help

Thanks

Hello James - have a search; there are a few causes - could just be a connector fallen off the back of the instrument panel (not easy to get to, unfortunately) or could need a complete new instrument display panel.

Are you covered by warranty?

No the Zetec doesn't have a 'trip' computer, just the warning lights. It was loss of illumination of the needles for the rev counter and speedo.

In that case I think it's 'module replacement' gone mad! Changing the entire assembly at great cost when all that was probably wrong was maybe a dry joint or an open track on your original unit. :D

But the cost of a technician to test the unit down to componant level would most likely cost even more! its cheaper and quicker now days just to replace the duff part! for example my daughters CD radio wont play CD's to strip it and find the fault is
