Guest fredt Posted October 12, 2004 Report Posted October 12, 2004 Occasionally the old bus has failed to start first time and just "ticks over" I then try again and the car starts no problems. ticks over? do you mean turns over but wont start? or just ticks over at 900 RPM (tick over speed?) and wont go any higher? johnb80 Posted October 13, 2004 Report Posted October 13, 2004 I'd go with an air leak OR a non return valve in the fuel system. One of my Transit vans did this and it was the fuel filter that had a faulty nonm return valve which allowed fuel to drain back to the tank overnight which in turn pulled air up the return pipe. The next morning enough fuel was fed into the engine to allow tickover but when more power was required the air had to go through the system first. Regards - JB Quote
