pj_andrew Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 Apologies if this has been covered before (search didn't find anything obvious). The computer on my 2002 Ghia has packed up. Doesn't display anything at all. The rest of the car seems fine as far as I can work out. Any ideas ? Quote
Guest fredt Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 There is a known problem with the clocks but wether this includes the total loss of the graphic display or just dodGy readings off the gauges I'm not sure? it could be something as simple as one of the plugs falling out the back of the clocks! although they have retaining clips on them! if your still under warrenty let the dealers have a look Quote
Denis Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 Is the problem anything like this one? I still have this intermittent fault, after two visits to the dealers. Quote
pj_andrew Posted October 13, 2004 Author Report Posted October 13, 2004 Um, computer has started working again, as if by magic. Reading all the other threads about this problem (and for anyone else who may stumble upon this thread), the probable causes are: - Dodgy connection at back of dash (easy to lower dash and check connections - see another thread about this)- Bust display. Hope you are under warranty.- If you go to a garage, then don't expect a fix as intermittent problems are hard to fix.- Just put up with it disappearing and suddenly fixing itself. Quote
phil332 Posted October 14, 2004 Report Posted October 14, 2004 Sounds similar to my 'erratic fuel gauge' problem, (sorry don't know how to do the link) :D Water getting on to the connection at the back of dash causing corrosion/ bad connection. No problem in dry weather, but driving in heavy rain causes problem to re appear for a while. I'm sure some kind soul will tell you how to take the instrument pod out to check the connections. Quote
