Ivor_E_Tower Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 (1) They are on the famed TIS CD(2) Your friendly Ford dealer (apologies for sarcasm) may supply you with a copy of the masking patterns from the TIS CD(3) Buy a set of beam benders from eg Halfords; they come with a full set of instructions. I got mine last week and will be fitting them in about 10 days' time(4) If you have the Xenon headlamp option I don't think you need them; there is a hidden lever somewhere that alters the beam pattern for driving on the other side of the road.HTHIvor Quote

I did actually visit the extremely helpful dealer today who have supplied me with a template & instructions, but on reading the instructions this evening I find that there should be 2 different templates and to cap it all, the one they have supplied is for a LHD vehicle. I'm off to France tomorrow which is why I posted this request tonight as a last attempt to find a solution! Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 Standing in front of the Gal, looking back towards the lights, you need to mask an area to the left and below the centreline of each dipped beam headlamp bulb, about one inch square should do the trick. The templates show additional area around the main beam lamp which is not strictly necessary. Dipped beams are outboard of main beams (ie closer to the side and indicator bulbs).HTH Quote
Guest andeee Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 Hi Keith, hope this isn't too late. I've just been out and looked at my lights that are still covered from my last trip. You need about a 2inch square of black sticky tape, crouch down and look directly at the light, the top right corner of the mask should line up with the centre of the silver disc in the middle of the headlight. This applies to both lights. Have fun in France but note that they have just started an experiment with having dipped headlights on during the day. (Caravan Club mag. Oct'04). All the best, Andy. Richmond Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 If you 'phone Ford's customer care line, they'll fax you a template. They're a complete pain in the arse. There are 4 separate bits, 2 on each side. I made mine out of metallic sticky tape. 30 secs later ... I've just noticed that you're already in France. Lucky you. Quote
