charles Posted October 4, 2004 Report Posted October 4, 2004 since a few days a terrible sound can be heard when puttint the A/C on.I think it's one of the fans. Have anyone had similar problems? Does the fan hit the casting or is it the bearing? mus the unit replaced totally or can you buy spare parts for it (fe only the bearing) Quote
Guest dmc Posted October 4, 2004 Report Posted October 4, 2004 could be the compressor seized.look under the hood and check if the noise is only when the fan is on. Quote
verhaegh Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 Hello, I had also a terrible noise for under the bonnet when putting on the A/C or when I put on some stuff that uses a lot of power (front windscreen heating + rear window heating). It turned out to be the tensioner of the multibelt that drives the dynamo, the A/C etc. kind regards, Jos Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 If you check the fans and their surrounds, you will soon know if the fan blades have been making contact - loads of witness marks and possibly shards of plastic too... Quote
charles Posted October 5, 2004 Author Report Posted October 5, 2004 on checking under the bonnet I found that one of the fan motors makes the noise, have to replace it. Quote
