I have had a loud ticking / knocking since purchasing the car at 3 years old. The dealer said it was tappett crowns and would go when the engine was hot (which it did). It has got progressively worse and is now constant. The car has only done 58,000 miles.

The most consistent explanation from garages I have taken it to is that it is cam shaft wear. My concern is that I do not want a catastrophic engine failure which my regular garage says will not happen.

Any ideas or opinions?

I previously has a 2.0 ltr Galaxy which had done 115,000 miles, mine ran for 10,000 of them with the tappet noise put during the last 3,000 it got worse and was diagnosed as the cam shaft guides??

I decided to bite the bullet and part ex'd the car for my alhambra, got a great deal the garage never even looked at it and gave me
