Seat Backs

Has any one every tried to replace one of the seatbacks on any of the rear seats. The grey clips that are recommended are impossible to use. I had limited success using the yellow clips that are used to hold on the door panels. I notice that on the post 2001 Galaxy the seem to use screws rather than push on clips ( I can see the caps which cover them on the new model) Will the seat back from the new model fit the older one?

Sory can't help but I have same problem so would like to know an answer. Bought the grey clips and snapped one trying to get the back of seat back on. I have a 97 model TD

One of our seat backs was already trashed when we bought our '96 Sharan. Like yours they rely on the clips. I've now ordered a new one, which is only available with the screws/captive nut/cover. But for all the parts its ablout

Looks like your dealer is giving you the back from the newer model. When you get the panel, let me know if it fits.

I've a friend with a '99 Alhambra (ie old shape etc) and his has the backs with the screw fittings from new. Looks like the design changed during the old shape production.

Did your seat back arrive and did the one with the clips fit your 96 Sharan?

I got the tray yesterday, after a 20 minute wait at the parts counter at my local VW dealership... ( a sore point).

The tray does fit, but the colour varies a little from the original trays (grey). I ordered the tray, 2 bolts, 2 aluminium captive nuts and two covers (to hide the bolts). The original tray used to have clips.
