If you pre-face lift non-Ghia owners would like to illuminate the passenger footwell you should be able to feel along the lip under the lower glove box and find an oval plastic blanking plate. Gently ease this out of its socket and if you are lucky there will be a pre-wired plug attached to the reverse. Take a trip to the scrappy or Ford Parts(about

And while your at it why not go the whole way and fit the rear foot well lights, the ones on the rear quarter panels, the holes are pre cut on the inside of the panels as are the rear speakers and the load cover brackets :D and the engine bay light as its the same light fitting, you only need the switch and bobs your uncle! blackpool illuminations in side your car :D

my next upgrade is the door lights the red and white ones that light the pavement and warn other drivers when you open the door's, I picked them up a breakers during the week and just need the time to drop the door panels and cut the holes

Re the rear panel lights and speakers, is the wiring already there and how easy is it to remove the rear panels? ( i only take on easy jobs as they turn difficult anyway!!)
Posted
Depending on the vehicles spec depends on if the rear speaker feeds are there or not, as they are paired up with the rear door speakers according to the wiring diag's if they are not there you just tap into the rear door feed <_< the panels are fairly easy to remove  just take your time a nd dont yank them off till you are sure all the fixings or panels that overlap are loose!

There is also a footwell light blanking plate for the drivers side, found it whilst chqanging the brake light switch.

Yep, and the plug should be clipped into it? as is the one under the bonnet, the ones behind the rear quarter panel are just taped to the loom and covered in sticky backed foam :o bloody stuff doesnt come off that easy!

I have done the lot! The lights are less than a fiver with bulb. The rear floor ones, I did not need to remove the panels. i took a boot one out, drew a template, then just cut a hole. The wires were right behind the hole. Hey presto Blackpool illuninations. No wires for the rear speakers though.

I had the panels off as I was fitting the brackets for the load cover, the footwell lights and speakers were an after thought job while I had them off

you have uprated your battery and informed your insurance company of the modifications you have made

Insurance, oh I have never had an accident so don't bother !!

I have load cover, but have never used it, it's gathering dust in the garage.

I am interested in the door lights now, have you got these?

I have them in a bag in the garage awaiting fitting, that is if the cables are there? I havent checked yet! on all the Galaxy's, Sharan's, and Alhambra's I have looked at in the breakers they all seem to have the lights or a set of cables hanging around the location of the lights, so it could be one of the options thats pre wired but not fitted unless specced as is the foot well lights, front fog lights and engine bay light

Posted

Door lights done :( cables are there and the holes just need cutting out, a few holes drilled then linked together with a sharp knife, run the file round to finish them off and in they click :D

the engine bay light is in the bonnet tucked up behind the part of the latch, its switched by the switch on the bonnet hinges, the candle snuffer part

I now have that many lights stuck all over the place that if anyone manages to hit me in dark they should trade their guide dog in for one with better night vision :(

After you have removed the door card, do you have to remove the barrier sheet to get at the wires? Are the positions for the door lamps stamped into the card?

Posted

The vapour barrier will have to peeled backed slightly to allow you to find the wires, mine were looped backed and cable tied to the main loom, the good news is that my rear passenger door loom is an electric window one  thats one less thing to buy for the electric window conversion

if you look in the door storage pockets you should see a small oval trunking passing through the pocket? thats where the door lights fit, with the door card off you can see the hole is pre formed and just needs cutting out

Excellant 'upgrade' tips here - I'm going to go for the footwell lights too. You're very lucky if you manage to find a Galaxy, Sharan or Alhambra in a scrapy - there's none around here ! (Medway, Kent)

Mention was made of the wires for the foglights being behind the bumper. I've noticed this too - anybody done this upgrade. This would also require a replacement headlamp dash switch which included front fogs - I inquired about this switch and it was going to cost about

Posted

Front fogs done that upgrade as well  try chatting to the guy on the parts counter at your local Ford dealers, to buy the parts seperately is dear but they do an all one kit thats not as dear! the kit includes both lights, lamps, the switch, the relay and a set of very comprehensive instructions!

on mine it was just a case of installing the lights and the switch and then just turning them on the relay was already in place

if you want a breakers with a few Galaxy's and Alhambra's in try intapart
