Guest lesmon Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 OK, I have a slight heater matrix leaking problem - and I expect it is going to get worst. So here are my questions: 1: What causes it to leak? i.e. split hose, corroded rad, etc2: Can it be repaired - i suppose it depends on where is leaking!! but can it?3: If it is a replacement job - do all Gals/Sharan carry the same matrix? (i.e. different engine combinations/different manufactured years/different aircon&heating arrangements)?4: Is it worth getting a used one (as new ones cost Quote

Guest lesmon Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 As you have a leaking one out - where does it actually leak from? Is it from corrosion? or something silly like heat on plastic pipes? It'll be interesting to find out because corrosion can be stopped if caught at an early stage. Quote
Guest fredt Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 Mine went where the plastic end housing met the metal section of the matrix  no amount of rad weld or sealer that I stuck in the system helped :D sticking the gunk in wasnt meant to be a fix but a slowing tactic to allow me get the car booked in somewhere at the right price  although we never had a stream of coolant entering the cabin or had a great loss of coolant the heat output of the heater was severly reduced to the level that it blew cold after a while and yet the rear heater unit would peel your skin if you left your hand in the air stream for to long  Quote
