Guest reefer Posted May 8, 2003 Report Posted May 8, 2003 Hello, I tow a caravan with my TDi also. I would be interested to know if "chipping" improved the towing capability of your TDi. Let us all know if "chipping" made adifference. Reefer. Quote
Guest SA Intruder Posted May 8, 2003 Report Posted May 8, 2003 Don't hold your breath. Manufacturers spend months optimising the ECU settings for each engine and vehicle application. Some oik with a laptop and a secondhand rolling road fiddles with a few parameters in a day and flogs Quote
Guest SA Intruder Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 7up, did you have it done then? Is it everything you wanted? Quote
Guest SA Intruder Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 Ever noticed how the figures are all round numbers? Wild claims indeed. Somehow they managed to claim to increase the 130ps before it was available - simply astounding. The only way to reprogram the ECU on these is via OBD II, since the non-volatile memory is flash ROM. Take every claim with a large dose of salt and copious amounts of alcohol. Tip: never trust a woman with a round head. Quote
7up Posted May 14, 2003 Author Report Posted May 14, 2003 Yes, had it done, and it does make a lot of differance solo.Have not tryed it with the van on the back but will soon.Pulling away 1st gear is the same,2nd gear more power,3rd gear more power and so on.But the best thing is when on the m/way 5th gear, no slow over-taking or droping down to 4th gear.I did have second thougths but having had RS turbos and cosworths in the past that had been chipped i went ahead.Never had any problems with them so hey, cheaper than selling my car for silly money, and paying top wack for newer shape car Quote
