Guest windycity Posted September 26, 2004 Report Posted September 26, 2004 Whilst driving my new Galaxy home from the showroon in Feb '04 I discovered an irritating windnoise which I thought was due to a window not being fully closed! All windows were up fully.. the wind noise is only evident from the drivers door and is only heard when driving 40mph and over! The dealer has eventually agreed that the noise is unacceptable, however, states that all Galaxy's have a certain amount of wind noise!!I never found this to be the case in any of the Galaxy's I had test driven prior to purchasing this one!Several attempts have been made by the Ford garage to locate and correct the problem, without any success! My local dealer has now referred the case to Ford directly, however, I do not feel confident that I will get a satisfactory result. Can anyone else identify with this problem ? Quote
iainkirk Posted September 26, 2004 Report Posted September 26, 2004 Errr yes, probably all of us. See also rear nearside passenger door! Quote
Kev of Cov Posted September 26, 2004 Report Posted September 26, 2004 just realised recently that I have the same problem. Sorry no ideas yet but you are not alone Quote

Guest ESTUARDO Posted October 7, 2004 Report Posted October 7, 2004 AFTER A CURRY AND A FEW LAGERS ON A FRIDAY NIGHT I HAVE NOTICED THE NOISE IS ON THE INSIDE AS WELL Quote

Richmond Posted October 13, 2004 Report Posted October 13, 2004 No, it's not, but something like the Galaxy is never going to be a quiet vehicle. It's shifting a lot of air out of the way, and it's bound to make a bit of a row as it passes. Quote
Davetheref Posted October 14, 2004 Report Posted October 14, 2004 I suspect the wind noise is a deliberate ploy by Fraud to take your mind off the dodgy air con. :D :D Quote
zlorfik Posted August 24, 2010 Report Posted August 24, 2010 My mk2 galaxy was simply perfect... till I had a big crash (not my fault) a couple of years ago. Since then, the frustrating wind noise on the driver door, I believe due to the fact that the bonnet (or some other thing near it) is not perfectly symmetric. Could it be? I have tried everything so far, no result at all. I have found LOTS of threads about this issue over the internet forums, but NONE had the solution!!! :) :) :) Quote
Mirez Posted August 24, 2010 Report Posted August 24, 2010 I've fixed a number of galaxys with the noise you describe and its always turned out to be the door mirror. Mk1's dont seem to be effected but the Mk2's seem to have a design issue that sometimes raises its head. Replace the wing mirror with a Mk1 assembly would be my advice... Quote
zlorfik Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 Thanks Mirez... I've been wondering for long time to replace mirrors with the sharan's smaller ones... had never done it because wasn't sure, and didn't want to lose money for nothing. Now I have a good reason to try... I'll tell you how it ended up. ;) Quote
zlorfik Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 Just tried removing the mirror (taping the holes on the pillar to set the surface straight). The wind noise fades, but doesn't disappear. So I guess in my case the issue is not the mirror, but some other assembly... I'm starting to believe my car is doomed. ;) Quote
Peter Langton Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 I only heard this, and as my galaxy also suffers from drivers door wind noise, you will see why I am reluctant to try it, but some one once said if you open door, sit on side of seat, put your feet against the door just below the window and with both hands pull the top of the door towards you ( remember to wind down glass first!)This will improve the seal apparently, but would you want to try it. I turn the stereo up, its cheaper! Quote
