delboyt Posted September 24, 2004 Report Posted September 24, 2004 got myself a galay instead of the sharan as my missus sait it looked betteri recon she's right. Quote
Masked Marauder Posted September 24, 2004 Report Posted September 24, 2004 They do fold back a bit, but still stick out about 20cm from the bodywork. Quote
Guest neil_wiles Posted September 24, 2004 Report Posted September 24, 2004 Fold back they do but not totally insode the bodyline, they add about 4 inches to the overall width when folded. (overall width at bodyline). If you check the specs out on the Ford website it has the dimensions shown with mirrors fodled and extended. Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted September 24, 2004 Report Posted September 24, 2004 I have a standard garage door which I think is only 6ft 6in, and I need to fold only one mirror on my Gal to get it through the opening (only done it 3 times, mind you. It normally stays under the car port). Quote
davec Posted September 24, 2004 Report Posted September 24, 2004 did someone say that the seat has electrically folding mirrors or was i dreaming Quote
Guest grello42 Posted September 24, 2004 Report Posted September 24, 2004 Yeah, the current model does. Not sure about the '96. Flippin' Ghia Gal doesn't though! S'pose they feel they need to differentiate the Seats/VWs/Fords with something 'unique'. Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted September 24, 2004 Report Posted September 24, 2004 IIRC Ford have never offered folding mirrors; VW offer folding mirrors as an extra on the Sharan and current SE-spec SEATS have the feature as standard (although it was not mentioned in their brochure). Quote

Sounds spot-on. Sunroofs have been fitted as standard to very few Galaxys (old Ghia-X only?). Check that the aircon is working correctly (set to max cold and make sure that after a couple of minutes, plenty of cold air is gushing from the vents) and make sure that you get a warranty that covers aircon failure for at least 6 months from date of purchase.Good luck. Masked Marauder Posted September 25, 2004 Report Posted September 25, 2004 I don't know about now, but for a long time you could not get a sunroof and aircon in a VW, it was one or the other. There is enough glass in the bloody thing anyway! With air-con you won't want a sunroof! Quote
paulmpaciorek Posted September 25, 2004 Report Posted September 25, 2004 Got both sunroof and aircon in my 1997 Sharan.......should have been a standard option bearing in mind how reliable the aircon is !!!!! NOT !!!! Incidentley...the aircon in this car smells like and I quote my good lady "cheesey feet".Anyone else got "cheesey feet" aircon ??? Quote

delboyt Posted September 25, 2004 Author Report Posted September 25, 2004 thank's guys for all the infochecked out car & all work's as it should do. next question where can i get decent seat covers from ??i need 7 of the bloody thing's ?doe's anyone know how much a good fitting set of mats are ? del Quote
MrT Posted September 26, 2004 Report Posted September 26, 2004 My understanding was that if you have the rear air con vents in the roof you could not get a sunroof as well. Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted September 26, 2004 Report Posted September 26, 2004 My understanding was that if you have the rear air con vents in the roof you could not get a sunroof as well. That's right. As to seat covers and mats - If the seats have side airbags, you cannot fit seat covers to them unless they are the "clip-on" type and leave the sides of the seat free so that the side bags can deploy (front seats only - check if yours has them). The seat material seems to be quite hard-wearing so I wouldn't bother about seat covers anyway. You will neeed to get the covers that are designed for single "bucket" seats, so will be searching for sets that come as separate fronts and rears, they buying just the fronts (unless you find someone who does covers specifically for Gaalxy seats :P ).Floor mats - I bought a set of Cannon "profile" mats which can be cut to fit along their edges to supplement the factory-fit floor mats (Ghia). A second set (or just a set of rears) could be bought for the rear row and boot, but I had some mats left from another set that I used for these areas. There are several companies who do rubber mats to fit the rear seat/luggage area. Quote
