Guest stevebm1 Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 hi,I need to change my heater matrix,I can get the spare part from the scrapyard already removed from a vehicle, but has anyone actually changed one over?.how bigger job is it?. :( Quote
Guest fredt Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 if its the front one it's a BIGjob! it's a total dash out plus half the engine bay :( it's not a job I would take on unless you had a lot of time and plenty of spaceto do it in? prefferably under cover? plus you will need to de-gas the air con, rejoin the pipes and pressure test them once the heater unit is back in place before you stick the dash back in, the last thing you want is to find a leak after you spent two days sticking it all back together :( my guy took five days to it! although he quoted three and thats all he billed me for :( if its the rear one its not BIG job :D Quote
Guest stevebm1 Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 hi,thanks for the advice, mine dosen't have air-con,so should be easier???????????.I read somewhere that the easiest way to change it,is to get one from a scrapyard still in its casing and refit the whole thing, aparently this is easier on an automatic as there is no clutch pedel to get in the way. anyone else have a clue? :( Quote
