Guest bejay Posted September 20, 2004 Report Posted September 20, 2004 i have got a 1996 tdi galaxy that has not got remote central locking my problem is the key will only lock / unlock the drivers door and the petrol flap i have to unlock the rest by hand and can only open the tailgate with the key. the alarlm light doesnt flash in the drivers door.does anyone know how to sort out this prob before i have to go pay fords ripoff prices.only had the car a few days so i dont know how long the prob has been there. Guest fredt Posted September 20, 2004 Report Posted September 20, 2004 Common fault with central locking is the wiring looms to the doors/hatch, the cables break/fracture with all the opening and closing of the doors check the cables in the rubber boots where they cross from the car body to the doors and hatch for breaks fix and replace as needed and see how you go good luck ;) Quote

Some of your symptoms are typical of dodgy wiring loom, but I experienced the same central locking/alarm imobiliser problems after the control box was flooded.
