Hi

I'm thinking of buying a 2001 2.3 Galaxy Ghia Auto. It has had one owner from new and has 48k on the clock.

Seems to be in reasonable condition, FSH, is there anything I should look for?

Is 48k high or do these engine go on for a good time if properly maintained?

Does the climate control cope ok with the size of the car?

Thanks in advance for any comment received.

check for a damp footwell!,it's common on galaxys, also check the central locking for the fuel cap,I looked at several before the one I got and it was faulty on 3 I looked at.as for climate control,if the air con is gassed it should be fine, but it must be maintained,or you will find it stops working or dosen't quite hit the mark.

The 2.3 petrol is one of the smoothest 4 cylinder engines you could ever have, we have one, not in a Galaxy but in a Scorpio. Never any trouble and soooooooo smooth. As chromedome said double check the aircon / cc they can give trouble (mines been fine) try and get a warranty if you can just in case. The passenger footwell and under the passenger seat is prone to flooding for various reasons (blocked drain pipes, rear screenwash pipe disconnected etc) make sure that area is dry. Don't expect super economy from a petrol, if you want cheap to run spend a little more and get diesel where 40 to 50mpg is the norm!

Have fun, enjoy.

Picked up my 2001 Galaxy 2.3 Ghia Auto on Saturday.

Cruise control does not work and parking sensors indicate a fault.

Booked in to the dealer for Thursday, warranty job thank goodness.

I must give the Ford dealer some credit:-

They refurbished the alloy wheels and fitted new centre caps.

They replaced the interior door handles as they were worn, something Galaxies suffer from.

They replaced all the trim around the rear opening as it looked a bit shabby.

They replaced the Ford badges as the silver had tarnished.

Valeted, serviced and MOT.

Not bad considering the vehicle is three years old and you take into account wear and tear.
