Forgive me if im wrong but you did say a 40,000 mile service on a 53 plate TDI included a cambelt change? As I have just this week been informed by my local Ford garage SMC crayford that on the newer models it dosent need a belt change till 60,000 can anyone shed some light has Ian been ripped off or am I heading for some major shouting at being misinformed?????

smurf - the cambelt change interval was reduced from 60,000 miles to 40,000 miles early in the facelift range due to rather a lot of expensive failures under 60,000 miles IIRC.

40,000 miles is definitely the correct interval currently - see your owners' manual.

When we got ours I rang a Ford dealer and checked, and yes the 2.3 is a "lifetime" chain. I Hope its lifetime is longer than than the 100,000 miles suggested on another thread for the VR6! :P
