Guest Spark Posted September 17, 2004 Report Posted September 17, 2004 To all you members that have retro fit DVD, where did you install the DVD player?I Quote
Guest fredt Posted September 17, 2004 Report Posted September 17, 2004 I mounted mine where you suggest, under the the dash in the passenger foot well, mine came with a set of mounting brackets that allow you to mount it either way up luckily for me there was two fixings in the correct position that lined up perfectly with the holes in the brackets  these are on the bottom of the heater unit, I removed the push in studs that hold the carpet trim in place under the dash and used a couple of the spare fixings from a set of speakers I had lying around, the push on clamp type with the pre threaded section on one side with it pushed up tight to the underside of the dash and as far back as possible it's tucked out the way of prying eyes! and only gets used by an adult! so there is no chance of sticky fingers getting at it! Quote
Guest Andyjflet Posted September 18, 2004 Report Posted September 18, 2004 Mines fitted in the rear offside compartment under the cd changer unit, hangs down on brackets, the remote lead lead runs to the front of the car. I posted a picture on here a few weeks back of the fitting. Quote
corskey Posted September 18, 2004 Report Posted September 18, 2004 mine waz professionally fitted (but by the previous owner). The DVD is in the well under the drivers seat and the play station is une=der the passenger seat. I gotta sat that it is a great use of space (unless the rear washer jet leaks into the passenger foot well). I'll post photos if anyone wants!!! Corskey Quote
Guest NewbieGalaxyOwner Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 Can you post pics please, id love to see how you have installed the players Quote
Guest Andyjflet Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 Can you post pics please, id love to see how you have installed the players Each to their own but here is the player in the offside rear panel, I'm changing it over soon for a DVD multichanger when Ive got the money. Quote
charles Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 it seems to me not so convenient place for changing the discs when driving full loaded with lugage. corskey, can your rear passenger change the disks under your chair ? Quote
corskey Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 Here's the photos of the DVD player, and what I think is an old games console, though my boy refuses to play with something so old :( :( :D As for changing disks, yes it's possible, certainly when the missus is driving and the seat is slightly forward. When I'm driving I need to move forward - not the safest of things, but it stops the whining in the back :( Quote
corskey Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 This is with the carpet lifted, though it's not easy to see anything Quote
corskey Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 and this is that old console Quote
Guest Andyjflet Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 Its OK where it is, the kids can mess with the remote but I rarely travel for longer than 2 hours anyway these days, the length of a good DVD. The kids can chaneg the disc if they want even with the seat in place. Quote
Dally Posted September 26, 2004 Report Posted September 26, 2004 Spark Excellent choice of monitors if I say so and mounted really well. I have used the same monitors in mine but had to have the whole headrest retrimmed because it was one of the doughnut types. Just out of curiosity, how did you pass the cable down from the headrest in to the seat back? Did you use a grommet or anything? A pic would be useful. I have passed the cable down the edgr of the headrest bar and can just be seen if the headrest is not at its lowest height. I chose a non sony dvd though because I wanted all region playback and mouted it under the passenger seat. Quote
Guest Andyjflet Posted September 27, 2004 Report Posted September 27, 2004 I think youve done a great job, probably better than the original. Quote

Guest Steff Posted March 7, 2005 Report Posted March 7, 2005 Hi Guys, a Volkswagen Sharan owner has a Question...How did you run the Wires for the TFT/LCD Screen up to the Headrests in the Seats.I have the Seats with the tables fitted and I would like to install 2x TFT Screens with a Headrest Kit (Not built in) to be able to take the Screens off. I also have bought a 4 way video splitter from Maplins to share the Signal from the DVD Player. I would love to install all the electronics under the drivers seat as I do not have a 2nd Batterie fitted so I would love to use the space. How have you guys wired up the power supply (12V) and have you got any pictures. Cheers Steff Quote
