Guest lesmon Posted September 17, 2004 Report Posted September 17, 2004 Hi, I have just booked an Inspection 1 with Gowrings in Basingstoke ( Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted September 17, 2004 Report Posted September 17, 2004 The items should be listed in your service book. TBH, it looks like you have done more than would be covered in a dealer service so don't bother taking it there! It appears to be quite common these days for no interrogation for fault codes to be done, unless you specifically report a problem;l I am surprised by this but I suppose it is just another indication of falling standards in the motor trade  Oh, and as for the cost, I am reliably informed that at least half an hour is allowed for unbolting the undertray and re-fitting it afterwards - out of a total of about 1 and a half hours allowed for a basic "inspection" service at Quote

Guest lesmon Posted September 18, 2004 Report Posted September 18, 2004 Don't have the service book, and not a complete service history. (I am just writing the previous owners to find out who/wher these thing might be.) So can someone scan and post the list of service items from the 2.8 V6. I'm sure this will help others as well. Guest lesmon Posted September 20, 2004 Report Posted September 20, 2004 Come on - someone must have a 2.8 V6 (pre 2000), a service booklet, a scanner, some time to scan the relevant pages of the booklet and post here, and a kind heart (to do it for nothing).Wnat to know exactly what they will be expected to do on my Gal. Guest Hacksaw Posted January 15, 2005 Report Posted January 15, 2005 I am due my 40000 service soon, but pricing steers me away from my main dealer. I have been recommended a local garage but am not sure about the best way of addressing what I want doing. Should I photocopy the pertinent maintenance page from my Haynes manual and present that as a checklist? Should I buy my own air filter, spark plugs, oil etc and ask them to fit them? I should be grateful for any tips when dealing with unfamiliar garages re. servicing so as to ensure I get a proper, honest job done. Cheers Ritchie Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted January 15, 2005 Report Posted January 15, 2005 On the TIS there is a service section that allows you to print off service check sheets, you could print off your own and leave one on the dash for the garage to use :) Quote
seatkid Posted January 16, 2005 Report Posted January 16, 2005 Dealer Service and Reliability (Galaxy) -> Service - Whats Done? Ever see those old movies where three or four injuns dance around a wagon do the war dance, chanting whilst swinging an axe? Now substitute a can of cheap oil for the axe and highly trained technicians for the injuns...... Quote

shefki Posted January 25, 2005 Report Posted January 25, 2005 I asked if they will do a diagonostic check i.e. plug the computer thingy in the port by the ashtray - and surprisingly, he said that is not done and will incur additional costs. Is that normal?. :D The last Ford I owned (prior to this Galaxy) was a Focus 1.8. I used to take the Focus to the local Ford dealers for it's service and unless you asked the service was carried out at the Rapid Fit section of the garage. I always thought the ECU diagnostics would be carried out as standard BUT, when my car started stalling soon after starting, I asked them to do a check at it's next service. For the ECU check I was told it would have to be booked in to the Main Service section and that the hourly rate was almost double + the ECU check (all they really do is reset it) would be an extra cost of Quote
