greg_68 Posted May 10, 2005 Report Posted May 10, 2005 Steve, how did you get the bulb assembly off, I have tried unsuccesfully but it doesn't want to come off. Do you have to unclip anything? Cheers, Greg. Quote
Guest stevebm1 Posted May 11, 2005 Report Posted May 11, 2005 hi,i seem to remember it has little lugs on the underneath, you just need to be a bit heavy handed to prise them off.It seems ages ago now since i fixed the bulb, and it's still working fine.So believe me it can be done d.i.y,without the trip to fords. normski Posted June 21, 2009 Report Posted June 21, 2009 Found how to get to the gear selector bulb...finally. Ford/VW don't try to make things easy, do they? How do I go about changing the bulb? I have attached a picture below. IT is looking down the gear selector shaft. The bulb and holder is the greenish thingy on the right. It is attached to the arm that goes around the shifter to a connector on the left. I have managed to take this whole thing out see other photo. Hi, just read your post about automatic gear selector bulb. im having the same problem but cant download your pic for some reason. could you possibbly email how you did this. My email is normski1507@msn.com. Many thanks Quote
Gilesm Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 Hi, I replaced the Auto selector bulb on my Galaxy a few years ago. Unfortunately I don't have a photo, but the bulb came along with a holder that was a strange 'dog-leg' affair, a few centimetres across. The important thing is that the whole assembly - that is bulb and holder - come out together. I think that there was a single screw securing the holder in place. I got a replacement from a main dealer - wasn't too expensive, if I remember. The key thing is to not attempt to remove the bulb on its own - it won't come out! It looks like one of those 1.2W instrument panel lamps, but it is not. Hope that helps Giles Quote
