AMacdonald Posted September 5, 2004 Report Posted September 5, 2004 Okay so I don't actually own a Galaxy but hopefully the differences between a 97 Galaxy and a 97 Alhambra will be small enough not to matter. I've managed to blow the fuse that protects the luggage area power sockets and can't find it to fit a replacement. I think it may also power the high-level brake light as that has also failed. I've checked all the fuses in the box by the steering colum and the three on the battery but nothing is blown. Does anyone know of any auxiliary fuses hidden away anywhere? I've consulted the manual but the fuse list in there bears no relationship to the reality of my car, as far as I can tell. Quote
Guest fredt Posted September 5, 2004 Report Posted September 5, 2004 For the fuse's try under the drivers seat, the high level brake light is just linked into the rear brake light circuit, most likely cause of loss of power to it is the cables in the rubber boot breaking down due to the constant flexing as the hatch is opened and shut, do a search on the topic under the name of mauser IIRC his was the last case of it dealt with with in depth! AMacdonald Posted September 5, 2004 Author Report Posted September 5, 2004 The drivers seat eh? Are they easy to get to? I'll have a hunt. Thanks. Quote
Guest fredt Posted September 5, 2004 Report Posted September 5, 2004 Slide the seat as far forward as possible and under the seat you should have either a solid cover that clips/locks into place or a bit of carpet velcro'd in place? remove this cover and you should see a couple of fuses :D change and replace as needed Quote
AMacdonald Posted September 5, 2004 Author Report Posted September 5, 2004 Hmmm. No obvious fuses under there. I've got a couple of cables that appear to sort of loop through a couple of connectors. Might they be fusible links in there? There's a loop under both front seats. I always assumed they were for the seat heaters. Quote
djacks42 Posted September 6, 2004 Report Posted September 6, 2004 On mine it's not listed as 'power sockets' in the 96MY handbook, but look for fuse F35 (20A) in the interior fuse box. Top left is a bank of 5 relays and it's just above these. Quote
Guest chrisH Posted September 6, 2004 Report Posted September 6, 2004 I had the same problem a while back and IIRC 3 ford garages couldnt find the fuse. somebody on this site told me it was at the top of the fusebox under the steering wheel. And it was. There were several fuses 'hidden' right at the very top, i had to drop the fusebox down and get down really low to see them. viola, a blown fuse.i replaced it and all has been well since. I'd just like to add, this site has been invaluable to me and my wallet and Frauds can stick their dealerships where the sun dont shine.I'll probably get told off for that one. HA Ha. :D Quote
AMacdonald Posted September 6, 2004 Author Report Posted September 6, 2004 Thanks guys. I reckon I'll probably find it tonight. Now I won't have to rely on my local second-rate dealer for everything. He's been telling me that my aircon is fine for two and a half years, even though it loses pressure within 3-6 weeks. Quote
