Help Drive Shaft

hello can any one help came bake home the other day and put galaxy on drive (glx 2.0 auto)

wife went to go out in it 2 hours later big clonk oil comeing out of bottom

called rac man said drive shaft broke took to garage thay put new shaft in and say sump cracked

wait for new sump to come so garage pushed it out side thay then said it was very hard to push

thay are now saying that the diff or gearbox may be damaged but do not know untill thay put sump on and fill with oil to start

 

now dose this sound right or am i being taken for a mug

Sump breakage does not tie in with driveshaft failure - unless you have been very unlucky and the broken bit pierced the sump (or do they mean the gearbox sump rather than the engine sump?) I would suspect that once the box is back together and re-filled, everything will be OK; ask them to contact you when the work is done and go there in person to witness what happens, rather than just accepting their comments over the phone.

On the other hand, was the original diagnosis right? Would a broken driveshaft result in the gearbox oil trickling out?

ok thay put a new drive shaft in and a new sump as the drive shaft had hit it thay also put a new bracket on that holds the drive shaft ?? new oil total cost

Have they really taken 4 weeks to sort this out?

(Glad it's back and running now).
