Guest Titan Posted August 28, 2004 Report Posted August 28, 2004 Hello one and all, I posted a while back about loss of power and was told about MAF sensor!!!, so unplugged it and what a difference!!. The car is under warranty so decided to take the ole gal in for a check up and low and behold it turns out the MAF sensor was f****d. They replaced the sensor ( under warrany ) and went to pick it up, which by the way took a mere 8 hrs....lol ( thats the ford service for you ). Got in the car and started to drive away and nearly pooped my pants, never knew a car like that could wheel spin lol. Needless to say that all those people who have a MAF problem.... wait till you get it fixed and you'll wonder why you never realised something was not right. Thanks to this forum the cars performing the way it should!!. The only trouble now is the air con has packed up!!. Subtitute on problem with another!!!...lol Quote
Guest fredt Posted August 28, 2004 Report Posted August 28, 2004 if it's under charged then there's a problem with a leak somewhere not really its acceptable for the system to loose a certain amount of gas over time! not sure exactly how much, I will dig out the details later, got the barby up and running and a bottom bracket on a mates mountain bike to replace! now who wants grease with their burger ;) Quote
Nick Posted August 28, 2004 Report Posted August 28, 2004 How old is your car? That will indicate how much gass you were likely to loose. My guess is you have a leak, and that should be covered under wnty. Quote
Guest fredt Posted August 29, 2004 Report Posted August 29, 2004 to quote Ford losses of 60 - 130g/year are normal. It is normal for the air conditioning system to be underfilled even after a service life of two to four years. In cases such as this, the system should be topped up or filled from dry without any components having to be renewed. so you may not have a leak just the acceptable losses that build up and cause the system to shut down! either way who ever refills the systems should drain it down and do a leak test, refill and then check again for pressure loss and signs of leaks!
