Guest DanB Posted August 28, 2004 Report Posted August 28, 2004 Just received copy of TIS CD in 1st class mail, Unfortunately it doesn't work. It just says (insert volume January 2003 TIS English into any CD-ROM drive. This may be because the copy I have is called NEW. Can anyone tell me the exact name of the original TIS CD and then I could rename it to that and hopefully it would work. Quote
Guest fredt Posted August 28, 2004 Report Posted August 28, 2004 if your trying to install the disc? right click it click explore and run the install file from there while your exploring the disc you may find a notepad file with the disc's name on? with that you could relabel the short cut to open that instead ? Quote
Guest DanB Posted August 29, 2004 Report Posted August 29, 2004 No README files with the name on it fredt. The CD did seem to install OK, but when I try to look at a manual it opens a box that says (please insert volume January 2003 TIS English into any CD-ROM drive). This leads me to believe that the programme is not recognising the CD because it is named Quote
Guest fredt Posted August 29, 2004 Report Posted August 29, 2004 If you have a cd burner? burn a new copy and label that what the pc is asking for, then re-install from the copy and see what happens? if all else fails contact the guy you got it from and ask if he can help? Quote
Joshua Posted August 30, 2004 Report Posted August 30, 2004 Thats the error message I get if I don't insert the disk. My disks name is "ISEN0301" Cheers,Josh Quote
Guest lucya Posted August 31, 2004 Report Posted August 31, 2004 Hi, You have to keep the CD in whilst the problem runs. Andy Quote
Guest vitrocmax Posted August 31, 2004 Report Posted August 31, 2004 I agree with the comment made by Joshua - I can run the program without the CD as far as selecting a model - then it needs the CD to load the information. I think it's looking for the correct CD title, probably because the path must be specified when data is called up.. Mine is a 2004 CD and it won't copy - it claims that there's an error reading a file and it stops there. I tried twice and gave up. Quote
Joshua Posted August 31, 2004 Report Posted August 31, 2004 There is a line in the ini file that is along the lines of *REMOVABLE* - CD-ROM(not at home pc at moment), which may tell the s/w where to find the data. Apart from that, I'm not a professional hacker, so can't see how to get it to run only from disk. One option may be to copy entire source to disk, and then install from there - may then refer back to source folder at run time.Josh Quote
MrT Posted August 31, 2004 Report Posted August 31, 2004 Sounds like you were conned buying a version over 18 months old. The Jan 2004 has been on P2P services and ebay for many months. Quote
Guest DanB Posted August 31, 2004 Report Posted August 31, 2004 Thanks guys and girls for all your help. Joshua, you Quote
MrT Posted September 1, 2004 Report Posted September 1, 2004 P2P stands for Point to Point which is a file sharing method between PCs which is most commonly used for the (usually illegal) sharing of MP3 music tracks. Often software is hosted on various sharer's PCs and the Ford TIS is usually shared in this manner. Various people download the file and then copy it to a CD then sell it on Ebay. Strictly speaking this is copyright theft from Ford, but they seem to turn a blind eye to it. I am surprised that Ford don't actually sell it as a workshop manual and make some money out of it. Quote
Guest lucya Posted September 2, 2004 Report Posted September 2, 2004 Here's a way of running it only from the Hard Drive, seems long winded but once done it just works. Un-install TIS if already installed Create a directory on the C: drive (say C:\TIS) and copy the contents of the CD there. Then, from a Command Prompt, type SUBST F: C:\TIS (you will need to do this before running the TIS each time so either add it to c:\autoexec.bat or create a batch file to run the TIS). from the Command Prompt type LABEL C: xxxxx ;where xxxx is the original label of your cd (mines ISEN0902). This makes your hard drive have the same label so F: appears to the system as the original TIS CD. No when you look at F: you will see the contents of C:\TIS. Run the install. Now when it installs the program will think that F: is the original CD I've not tried with the TIS CD (I'm in work and the disk is at home) but I've used this solution a number of times before. If someone cares to try and let me know, if it doesn't work I'll take a closer look. Andy Quote
Joshua Posted September 2, 2004 Report Posted September 2, 2004 Neat. Think that I'll create a small disk partition and use that - should save renaming primary volume and creating a virtual drive letter. Josh Quote
Guest lucya Posted September 2, 2004 Report Posted September 2, 2004 that'll work. Also someone once told me how to use Easy CD Creator to create and image and told me there is a program that allows you to mount those images from your hard disk as if they were in a cdrom drive. If anyone knows anything about that I'd like to hear (god this has turned into an IT forum :D  ) Quote
Guest nelse Posted September 2, 2004 Report Posted September 2, 2004 use nero, clone cd, alcohol 120% or cdrwin to create an image, you then can mount this image in a virtual drive, alcohol 120% and clone cd both create virtual drives or you could use deamon tools. when mounting the image you will be abe to install from this then use the program without using the cd. The version i've got Jan2004 was a dvd image. Quote

Try put your computer date back to january 2003, and then try (it Should work)- something to do with licence dates of the copy. Quote
Mirez Posted March 13, 2011 Report Posted March 13, 2011 Do you really think he's been waiting 8 years for your solution? :D Quote
