mazzo Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 Hi I have an early V6 Galaxy on an M plate. The rear box is on the way out and apparently there was a change to the exhaust system from Nov 95 on. The earlier version is now deleted by most manufacturers (so I'm told). Does anyone know if the back boxes are interchangeable from the later series. I have a Timax catalogue and they look broadly similar, but the mounts seem to be in different places. Thanks Quote
Guest fredt Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 try euro car parts, I got a rear box off them for my Galaxy when I first got it, it was a OE part for the Sharan and a lot cheaper than VW! I know what you mean about the mounting brackets being on the opposite side! the Projektzwo rear boxI got really cheap of Ebay has the mounting brackets on the wrong sides for my Galaxy :( oh well, now where's that grinder and the welding set when you want it? <_< Quote
Guest John J Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 Hi I've just had a rear box replaced on my V6 Galaxy. The car is registered in 96 but built in 95. My mechanic was able to source one for Quote
mazzo Posted September 2, 2004 Author Report Posted September 2, 2004 Thanks for the answers. How easy would it be to convert for one of the newer boxes? I know that the pipe diameters are the same. I guess it could be angle grinder and welding rods, but I wonder if it is easier (in the long run - and presuming the car needs another exhaust in the future) to change the mount points on the floorpan? Local car spares have a later box for Quote
Guest fredt Posted September 2, 2004 Report Posted September 2, 2004 Not done it yet but I'm going to have to in order to fit my Projektzwo rear box, I will be going down the route of modifying the box and not the mounts on the car body Quote
mazzo Posted September 2, 2004 Author Report Posted September 2, 2004 OK - good luck. Would be interested to know how you get on. Quote
