Guest lucya Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 Hi, Firstly, let me explain I am an I.T. Manager therefore I have no mechnical aptitude (dispite my B-Tec Mechnical Engineering Cert.). Anyways, I have the T-99 2.3 Zetec Auto and I want to know if it have a Cam belt as I've heard these should be replaced or bad things happen. Given that the oil in the car was as black as a coal miners armpit, I doubt if the cam belt has been changed (if needed). I've read that some Galaxys have a chain rather than a belt, but how can I be sure? Any ideas? Andy <_< Quote
Joshua Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 I'm sure yours has a chain, as when I recently bought mine I checked in a mechanics book on timing belts, and it said that all 2.3's had chains. Just checked the Ford TIS, and it does talk about timing chain removal for the 2.3 DOHC engines. Josh Quote
Guest lucya Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 Cheers, I have the Ford TIS CD (thanks AlarmMan) and I read the same. But being a a fool when it comes to engines I was thinking mine was different as I could see a belt. Out office 'engine head' laughed when I asked him and he explain. He told me it was the alternator/water pump et al belt that I was looking at. thanks Quote
