Guest AlanA Posted August 26, 2004 Report Posted August 26, 2004 I went to a VW dealer to see the equivalent to the Galaxy Ghia 130, the Carat 130.I have to say I was shocked The Carat does NOT come with rear climate control, dark tint windows, Cruise control. To spec it the same as a Ghia with Metallic paint, the above and one child seat which I am looking at came to a price of Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted August 26, 2004 Report Posted August 26, 2004 They are built in the same factory in Portugal so of course the VW is not worth the extra money! 2004MY Ford does have different rear lights - the rear indicators are now an orange circle within the cluster and not an orange lens as previously fitted - but side repeaters are still in the front wings not on the mirrors - and did you notice that VW just fit a nasty black plastic "plug" into the indicator repeater slots on the front wings? The one I looked at had a badge in the side repeater slot. I cannot b elive the low spec, maybe I should have a look at the Seat version? Quote
Guest OXO2 PUB Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 ewwwwww plastic caps were indicators should be not a good Idea I would have thought. What other bits are you looking at in the Galaxy Ghia 130, it sounds pretty similar to My Alhambra SX. It comes with 130pd lump, cruise, CD & Cassette Stereo, front and rear climate control, FRONT electric windows (manual rears), 7 seats, cool/warm box, integrated child seats, 6 speed box, tints, tables on back of chairs, sunglasses holder, etc. Picked mine up fo Quote
Guest AlanA Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 Hi Ian, Basically as much kit as possible :-) I am coming out of a ZT-T 190 plus for tax reasons, so want the change to deisel to be as painless as possible.the spec I am looking at is basic Galaxy 130 Ghia with six captains chairs, six disk CD changer, leather, metallic, Xenon headlights, 1 child seat and sat nav and versitlility pack if possible. I don't want much you see <vbg> Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 ...then you won't want an Alhambra as they do not come with Xenon headlamps, not even as an option. Beware also - Seat are just about to rename their trim levels to something like Stylance, Reference and Sport. Local dealer does not yet have any brochures with the new trim levels. Quote
Guest OXO2 PUB Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 Ah! lol From what I gathered looking at the models (no optional extras) I found Seat to have the edge on price and equiptment on like for like models but when you throw things like the versatility pack captains chairs etc etc Seat became very expensive (if they did them at all ie no Xenon lights no Versatility pack). I suppose when you throw in the optionals its a case of who can do you the best deal rather than what the basic price of the car is ;) Happy hunting Quote
