Guest Spark Posted August 22, 2004 Report Posted August 22, 2004 Hi I had the same problem when fitting my headrest screens  . I solved it by buying 3 headrests (I fit 3 screens) from the scrappers. As I remember they came from a Transit. Then after I had fit the screen mounts to them I had them recovered at the local car upholsters, I even had some fold up covers with Velcro at the bottom attached to the headrest to cover the screen for extra security. The Headrests where only Quote
Guest fredt Posted August 22, 2004 Report Posted August 22, 2004 if you had asked a day earlier there was an original Galaxy head rest with the OE screen mounting kit on Ebay  I dont think it sold so it may be worth your while keeping an eye out incase it comes back? Quote

Dally Posted August 23, 2004 Report Posted August 23, 2004 oscar I have a 2003 model with the small doughnut headrests. I too found it a problem to have sreens fitted. In the end, a local car upholsterer managed to butcher them and re trim them with 6.5 inch widesreen monitors. The only problem was that it cost me Quote
Guest oscar Posted August 23, 2004 Report Posted August 23, 2004 thanks dally i have been to a car place today he as told me he would not cut the headrest as they were designed to take so much strain in case of a accident. so its looking like i will be putting my new screens on ebay and buy a roof mounted screen but that is not what i wanted  Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted August 23, 2004 Report Posted August 23, 2004 I take it you have the "doughnut" headrests - different ones are fitted if you have the factory-fit LCD screens in the headrests - and apparently these come with protective covers to hide the screens when parked etc. Could be worth trying scrapyards etc for some of these? Also try some other car multimedia specialists to see what they recommend. Quote
Dally Posted August 23, 2004 Report Posted August 23, 2004 oscar Many quality in car entertainment outlets are offering this service now. The structural integrity of the headrest has not been changed, basically they have been padded out to increase their size to accomodate and allow fixing of the monitors. I couldn't fit a roof monitor because of my dual ac vents despite trying many configurations and besides, my 8 year old was looking virtually vertically with crooked neck at a roof monitor. Also, having the two screens means that one can watch a dvd and the other can play on her psone. Good luck with your choice, whatever it may be. Quote
